You have got to be kidding. Have you been there lately? The two=state solution is dead and gone. And it's obscene that there should even be an idea of a democratic Jewish state. What are you going to do with the 1.5 million Palestinians, Christian and Muslim, who live in Israel... kick them out? And what about the million Jews who have already left Israel? Count them in the census? There is only one solution..a state for all its people...like the U.S. or the countries in Europe who may have their problems but try their best to be a country for everyone. Israel is nothing but an Apartheid State, and ten times more Palestinians have lost their lives than Israelis.

Greta, you are woefully misinformed, and according to your post, full of hate and anger. Peace doesn't seem to be in your agenda ~ and that is most unfortunate. This video was heartfelt. And if enough people on both sides feel this way, there is room for a two state solution. I remain realistic, yet hopeful...

Amen, Amen!

I am almost 70 years old, and am not Jewish. For as long as I can remember, there has been fighting in the Middle East between Israel and others, for possession of land. It hasn't seemed to change. Right now the building of new settlements seems to be something to set things off again. I hope for peace in the Middle East, and perhaps it will happen. That would be a miracle.

So long as the state of Israel is not afforded the same respect and recognition from its Arab neighbors as is given to all other free and independent nations and so long as Arab children are inculcated with hatred towrd Jews and Jewish stereotypes, it remains difficult to remain optimistic about the chances of peace between Israel and its neighbors. Realistically, only a two-state solution to the current impasse remains the only viable option.

Dr.Reiff's comment is exactly correct. The fact that there is not a two state solution as yet is symptomatic of the problem, not the solution.

PEACE THROUGH STRENGHT,REMEMBER THE SPILLED BLOOD BUT ALWAYS HOPE AND PRAY FOR PEACE.

I think that the issue of peace and a 2 states will be overshadowed by the problems that the Middle East is facing, what with polluted waters, drought, and a variety of other issues. Israel's hope will be the coming together of those who understand what is facing them all and working together to find solutions.

I heard so many speeches about the need for 2 states as formula for peace, this is fine. What I want hear from “Peace Now” is a campaign calling on U.S government to put meaningful pressure on Israeli Government including using the aid of $3.5 as a weapon.
Without this pressure there will not be 2 states and not peace. The Netanyahu government is unwilling and unable to move any inch to peace, on the contrary they continue with the settlements project with all the tricks which they so good about.

A two state solution is inevitable - but like any historic movement many lives will be lost before reaching that point.

I am age 62 and a long time supporter of both Israel and Peace Now. Thank you Mr. Fein for an eloquent and heartfelt video. Peace is the only way e.g.a 2
state solution as proposed in video. I grew up with people with numbers on their arms and my own father grew up in Ukraine,in the early 20th century,a terrible place for a Jew,let alone any human. There are many like me,but it is not easy to over come the trauma and fear of of the Shoah, let alone a future
mass murder attempt;however,Mr. Fein continues to advocate the only hope.
A truly eloquent video. Some have responded with fear and/or hate e.g Ms.
Berlin, but those emotions are not the way.

I grew up in San Francisco and worked for and live, for a time, with a Christian Palestinian family. This was in the late 1950's early 1960's. They hated the Jews and were always talking about throwing them into the sea. I learn about their culture and could manage Arabic fairly well. What I didn't learn thankfully was the hatred.

I went to Israel in Oct 1973 and the Yom Kippur War broke out. It was a sad time. Such a beautiful country with unending conflict. My experiences with both Jew and Palestinians makes me feel the longer this conflict goes on, the more radical each sides gets, the chance for them ever living peacefully in one country is slim at best. It seems to me the only solution to this situation is a two State solution. I watched an interiew with Amos Oz, where he said he could see peace with a two State solution and Jerusalem the capital of both. Stranger things have happen.

Oh yes, years later, I found out that my mother's side was probably French Jews, but since my Mom never talked about it I don't know. I'm now doing our family tree to hopefully find out. Another little aside, when I left Israel in 1973 to come home, I was wearing a Star of David I bought there. I still wear it today almost 37 years later.

Shalom

I think Leibel Fein's video is excellent and am prepared to sign up to it, but, sadly,it may be too late for 2 states--because of us, the Israeli Jews, who have facilitated and permitted the settlement enterprise. If the land can be repartitioned and a Palestinian state can be established, fine, but I think we also have to think about alternatives.
The top priority is to redefine Zionism. Today, in the 21st century, Zionism is the consolidation and integration of the Jewish entity in the region. We need reconciliation with our own Palestinian citizens, peace with our neighbors, and cooperation throughout the region. Whether there is one state or two, Israel can and should be a "Jewish state of all its citizens." This means it is the expression of the self-determination of the Jewish people in their own state, but with full rights and equality for all the other peoples who live here.
To this end we must form a peace coalition, INCLUDING ISRAEL'S PALESTINIAN CITIZENS AS COMPLETE EQUALS. Our new definition of Zionism can surely facilitate this. We can't expect Arabs to support the ingathering of the exiles and sing Hatikva, but we can expect them to support integration, consolidation, cooperation, and peace.

A two-state solution may yet be obtained, though it is very late in the day. See the two books by Professor Jeffrey Halper, An_ Israeli_ in_
Palestine_, and Obstacles_ to_ Peace_, especially the
sections on cultural zionism, and on what the ordinary citizen can do to bring about a just peace.
