Washington, D.C. - Americans for Peace Now's President and CEO Debra DeLee met today with President Barack Obama.
She was part of a small group of Jewish community leaders who were invited to the White House.
"As American friends of Israel, who applaud President Obama's efforts to bring peace to Israel - and by doing so to insure its future as a democratic Jewish state - we are confident that the President intends to stay the course," DeLee said following the meeting with Obama. "President Obama and his team have been doing all the right things so far to generate progress toward Mideast peace. The President knows that we will continue to support him in these efforts."
"I know that I speak for most American Jews when I wholeheartedly embrace President Obama's clear position on settlements," DeLee said. She pointed out that the issue of West Bank settlements came up more than once at the meeting, and that none of the participants expressed objection to the President's resolute position that settlement construction must stop.
