APN Tells Obama: War with Iran is not a "Pro-Israel" Litmus Test

Washington, DC - Today Americans for Peace Now (APN) sent a letter to President Obama calling on the president to continue to resist election season pressures to abandon Iran diplomacy in favor of military action. The letter was signed by APN Chairman James Klutznick and APN President and CEO Debra DeLee.

In the letter, APN also rejected efforts to transform a decision about war - with all of its national security implications - into a false litmus test of the Obama Administration's pro-Israel credentials. APN reminded the president that a precipitous and ill-considered decision to go to war with Iran is not synonymous with 'pro-Israel,' and that this is not the time to set a deadline for diplomacy. Full text of APN's letter can be read here.

APN is the sister organization of Shalom Achshav, Israel's preeminent peace movement. APN's mission is to educate and persuade the American public and its leadership to support and adopt policies that will lead to comprehensive, durable, Israeli-Palestinian and Israeli-Arab peace, based on a two-state solution, guaranteeing both peoples security, and consistent with U.S. national interests. We also work to ensure Israel's future and the viability of Israel's democracy and Jewish character through education, activism and advocacy in the United States, and by mobilizing American support for Shalom Achshav.

By all means negotiate with Iran. Lets see:US
engagement with Iran has achieved Iranian arms going to Syria's Assad, Iranian warships going through the Suez Canal to Syria and now lo and behold Iranian Revolutionary Guards arriving in
Syria ( Or maybe they are just religious pilgrims) Let diplomacy reign. With that kind of record APN must be proud of the results.

This is all very well and good, but it's not getting nearly the publicity it should. Is there not one courageous U.S. leader--well known in any field--who can give voice to this view so it is heard loud and clear?
